You could have a really impressive website, but if nobody visits it you will not make any money. Getting traffic to a website is one of the biggest problems that most people have when first trying to sell something online.

There are three main methods in obtaining traffic which are:

1). Buy traffic

2). Email to Your List

3). Joint Venture

1). Buy Traffic

This is where you buy to have people visit your website. Also, these people who visit your website are really interested in what you are selling.

There are many places where you can buy traffic, but the most important one is Google Adwords. When you do a search in Google, on the right hand side of the results page are small ads in a category called sponsored links. You can buy an ad there for the keywords you use, and only pay when someone click on it. You pay $0.05 onwards per click, with the price determined by bidding on keywords.

You can have traffic visiting your website in as short as 5 minutes after setting up an account with Google Adwords. By tracking your results you will soon find out where your sales are coming from. You can then abandon the advertising that is losing you money and expand on the ones that are making you a profit.

2). Email to Your List

By building up your own mailing list you will be able to send a flood of visitors to your website at any time you want to do so. Not only will this bring traffic to your website, it will also bring many people to your site which will result in a huge amount of sales.

How often should you promote to your list? You should send a promotional e-mail at least once a month, but no more than two. In between these promotional e-mails it is best to send valuable content for free.

Joint Venture

You make an agreement with another website owner to promote your products. They can send out e-mails to their list endorsing your product, or by placing strategic links on their websites.

By offering the website owner a commission (50% is best) to promote your products you will be able to obtain increased traffic to your website. Also, both the other website owner and you will be able to make money fast.
