The Naked Truth About Clothes - Understanding the Fashion of Your Passion
The saying goes that the clothes dont make the man, or perhaps in our PC world today, the person. The clothes dont make the person. Styles come and go, yet you are who you are.
So if clothes dont make the person, what does? Clothes are but a layer of textiles that protect our skin. Racks in boutiques and department stores everywhere are constantly filled with the latest clothing trends, the must-have looks for the next two or three months. Take them all away, and were left to go out into the world as we came in, with only our nakedness to speak for our character.
In that bare state, we make a grand pronouncement about the person we have fashioned ourselves into being, as we use what we were naturally given. Consider the truly classic look of a wardrobe naturally designed for all of us, one that is timeless through all seasons and has no need for a closet; a wardrobe where one size fits all. Consider the person you are with your natural wardrobe, in the body you were given. Regardless of your passion in life, when you put your complete self into living that passion, you fashion a wardrobe that reflects your souls personality.
Lets begin at the top, with a pair of ears that listen to what other people are saying. Really listen. Without distraction or assumption or prejudice. Ears that listen so the mind can learn from other perspectives and grow in its capacity to absorb information. A mind that is eager to understand, to question, and to create.
Add to that a mouth that voices its opinions, comforts others in their moments of need, and speaks on the behalf of those who mouths are quieted by bullies, political and otherwise. A mouth that reads and teaches words of wisdom, sings songs of hope and quotes the prose of poets.
Accessorize with a genuine smile. A smile that portrays positive emotions felt in the moment. Happiness, peace of mind, gratitude, joy, love, optimism, passion. A smile that enhances and personalizes any look.
Notice the shape of the arms and hands. It does not matter if they are big or small, strong or weak, for they are always able to hug and embrace and soothe, to inspire by writing, and to nourish with recipes spiced with love.
Its not always easy, especially when teetering on unstable ground, but walking the runway of life requires legs and feet that are confident in the direction they have chosen to go, that move forward with experiences from the past that suit them well for what lies ahead. Even with stumbles and falls, they rise to meet any occasion.
To complete this ensemble, move to the heart of it all. Literally. The heart, wherein resides the soul and the spirit of the child that you are, conceived unblemished, without fear and full of love. The heart, where inner beauty thrives.
To dress for success is to complement the frills and fashions of Paris and New York with the well-tailored look of the Self the real and natural Self. The Self that intuitively understands its every need and desire, the Self that respects its purpose for being on this earth, the Self that trusts in the unending guidance of its Divine Source.
