Symptoms Of MRSA
MRSA infections can lead to a range of symptoms. These are dependent on the part of the body that is infected. Included in these are surgical wounds, burns, catheter sites, eye, skin and blood. People, at times may have no symptoms at all but they do carry the infection. It can infect the urinary tract, cause septicemia, toxic shock, and sometimes even death. The best chance of controlling and treating this infection is to be diagnosed very early on and begin treatment. MRSA is very contagious (Superbug) and the sooner you receive treatment, the better chance of the patient will come out of it very well.
For the people that have been colonized with MRSA and are showing no symptoms, well you can carry it in your nose and skin for years to come. The infection would set in with these persons acquiring an injury, thus allowing the bacteria free reign in the body blossoming into an infection.
Symptoms include:
* skin showing redness, warmth, swelling, tenderness, boils or blisters.
* these staph infections are commonly mistaken for spider bites.
* people are sometime known to have chills and fever, feel nauseous and also acute pain.
* if a person has had surgery ( e.g. ankle surgery) that necessitates them being in a cast, this may leave them in a very dangerous situation. Why? Well they have no way of seeing redness or swelling after they have been sent home can they? If they feel more pain than necessary then they might call their doctor, but then how much pain is considered too much before you should call your doctor, and the longer you wait to call the more the infection progresses.
*in the really serious cases, persons may experience fatigue and headaches
Until just the other day, the problem with community-acquired MRSA (CA-MRSA) has been a total lack of awareness in the medical community and the community at large. Historically, staph infections have been treated by physicians, based solely on their severity, with either non-prescription triple-antibiotic ointments or with daily antibiotic applications. It is not standard practice to order cultures or identify the organisms and its antibiotic weakness unless the infection was extensive or the first treatment lacked success. With CA-MRSA, however, conventional treatment options have failed time and time again. A blatant number of those infected had been hospitalized and some healthy patients have died from this infection.
