Although PowerPoint has been around for years, there is still a lot of misuse. Just because we can does not mean we should. Here are five tips to strengthen your sermon with PowerPoint.

1. Clean screen.

Keep your images clean, not cluttered. Use one clear image per screen instead of half a dozen clipart images. Make your screens as appealing as possible. Create them s it is obvious what is on the screens to keep people rom wondering what all the cutter is about.

2. Minimize Movement.

Though animation can be a nice effect, it can hurt a sermon. If you are not running PowerPoint on a strong enough system the quick point entering the screen may be delayed. The impact you wanted to have may be totally missed.

3. Identical Computers.

Most pastors have their sermons created on one computer then transfer it to another for presentation. If the systems are not the same their can be a shift in several aspects. Fonts, colors, and screen size can all change when using another computer.

4. Distance Learning

Make your sermon points and fonts clearly legible from the back of the sanctuary. You want the elderly members with decent vision to be able to read it. Survey a few of the members if you are not sure. People should be able to learn from any distance in the auditorium.

5. Sermon Help

Dont try to do everything yourself. You probably have several members of the church who are knowledgeable about PowerPoint sermons. Ask them for tips or see if they would be interested in designing your screens.
