One of the most important questions is "how do I generate targeted traffic to my website". Ok so you have a new work at home business website and you are new to internet marketing. You see all this information available on the internet on how to generate traffic to your site and your buying this and that to try and increase your traffic to your site. In my opinion do not waste your money you can do it just by following these few steps.

Step number one is to ensure your website is optimised for your chosen keyword. Ensure your meta tags are correct for your chosen keyword. Dont under estimate the power of an optimised site. It is imperative that your site is optimised for your chosen keyword or phrase for the search engines.

Step number two is to then submit your site to the major search engines by hand and you can get some search engine submitters for free which will post to 40 - 66 search engines for you just do a search on google.

Step number three once you have submitted your website to your search engines you will find that it takes several weeks to be listed. Dont just sit around and wait to be listed there is more work to be done. Just submitting your site to as many search engines as possible will not get you the targeted traffic you want. You need to start creating backlinks to your website. The best way to do this is by writing articles and having a link to your website in the author box. I suggest minimum 1-3 article a week to be submitted to ezinearticles, ideamarketers, advertisingknowhow, these are the top article places to submit to.

Step number four is to also increase backlinks by doing some linking. I use link machine. It is where sites can place a link to you on their site and then you place a link to them on your site this is two way linking. I have a links button setup on my home page where people can add there website link to my website but they must first add me to their website. This is a hassle free way of generating links to your site. However you want to set some parameters as you mainly want sites which have your keyword as anchor text.

Step number Five Is Forum posting, Participate in forums and ensure you have your website in your signature file. I recommend atleast 5 posts a day. Make sure you add value in your posts dont just say oh thats nice or well done your posts must be relevant to what is said or it is considered spamming.

Once you have started to generate your links you can keep a check at how well you are doing by going to linkpoluarity.com where you can do a search for your website and it will show you how many links you have in google, msn and yahoo. Your aim is to continually increase these numbers because this will ensure you get on the first page of your chosen keyword phrase. You can also do a little test and put your keyword phrase into google and see who is the number one site and then do a link popularity check on them and you will see how much work you need to do to knock them off of the number 1 position.

Well you have now learnt on what I consider to be the best methods available to generate targeted traffic to your website. Set yourself up a daily routine and dont get to bogged down with anything else. If you maintaina routine you will benefit from targeted traffic
