Building Self Esteem - 5 Tips to Help Your Children Build Self-Esteem

Children need to feel a sense of self-worth just like adults do. Without self-esteem, they will have a hard time learning to study and make sound decision as they grow up. Having low self-esteem could cause many children to do wrong as they try to succeed.

As adults and parents, we have to teach our children to develop healthy self-esteem for them to succeed and have a healthy and happy life. Teaching children to have a strong self-esteem can be hard for some and easy for others; a lot depends on how they feel about themselves as well.

Let children know that they can learn new things, even if they fail. Teach them that failures dont exist. There are only lessons to learn. Teach them that its only at school that youre given a lesson and then a test. In real life, youre given a test first that teaches you a lesson that will serve you in the future.

Dont let your children feel that they are failures; encourage them to learn something new each day of their lives. Teach them to set goals in order to be successful in their lives.

We can help our children grow up feeling good about them by giving them a positive outlook on their lives. Let the children know that usually it takes more than one try to succeed.

When children fail at doing something, encourage them to do it again. Show them how to succeed by working with them. Serve your children. Youre a leader for them but a servant leader.

Have a family night at home once a week to play games and teach them to communicate by asking them what they would like to do on a family night. Teaching them to make decisions on how to plan a fun time is a good way to teach them that their feelings and thoughts are worth just as much as anyone else. Give them responsibilities. Not too much though Well, you know what I mean.

Teach them to help with making cookies, or cleaning their room. Show them how to run the vacuum cleaner, and to dust. Let your child decide on what color they would like in their room or the rug they want. Making decisions will help show them that making decisions will make them proud of themselves.

Laugh with them. Make them feel welcome. Make them feel special. Make them feel happy. I always repeat to my daughter that shes pretty and shes always telling me Julie, pretty, daddy pretty, mommy pretty We laugh together and we say the word happy out loud so she makes association with laughing and happy and being pretty.

You can enhance your childrens self esteem all the time. Little things count.
