Barter Trading and Second Hand Markets in Germany

Definition and history:

Since the birth of human being and formation of a little gathering, colony or a society, individuals became dependent on each others in terms of the basic necessities and requirements. This was the start of exchanging the valuables in order to get the thing of ones need. The method of give and take developed and took the shape of a system known as barter trade. One can define it as a method by which you can get your necessity in exchange to something demanded by the other person in agreement. Earlier civilizations, for example, Greek, Roman, Egyptian that were somehow at the climax of their developed Era also developed this trade system and refined to the amount of Gold or silver as a criteria for exchanging the value. In fact that was the start of the development of the currency which we think as an easier ways to buying the things of our need in the social system. Barter system is like give-n-take. It can be a direct system which is 1-to-1 or triangular trading system where more than two exchanging possibilities occur by an introduction of third party. One can get a commodity of need from the third party by involving a second who has the desired material of the third party! In history, the 18th century shows us in some way a shameful economic example of slave trading between Europe, Northern America and slaves from West Africa namely Ghana, Senegal, Niger, etc...

Current model:

In our capitalist societies, more or less we do not find the place where this system of trading. Anyhow some parts of the world where the concept of money is found to be negligible; this systems still exists.

With such conditions, we can analytically predict that as the amount of necessities and wishes rose high in the past the people tried to buying more than that of their actual desire. This resulted in a pile up of the things in their houses. What to do then...sell them back to the market as second hand or send them to the place of need third world generation. Needy African or some Asian territories with disasters In a way, the barter system can lead to source-out the things in the form of second hand market, called Flohmarkt in German.

Consequences:

Coming back to the point, a better way to utilize our out-dated or not used resources is to put them in to a revitalized system by which people can exchange the things of their so-called not need by those which they really require barter trading. Exchanging the things of necessity in a large scale with different countries, societies would also be a progressive step in international relation with the developing countries. There are some internationally recognized associations at the moment which are working on such projects but the number of such companies is very small.

As a result of building a network of bartering, one can also create a possibility for second hand shops in a country. This way would bring the third world one can make use of a lot of the stuff which one does not use for a long time or it stays in the stores. The propagation of a sense to take an advantage of this opportunity and developing this system in order to help the other people is quite necessary and time demanding. It is also stressed in Quran: Surah: Al-Mun 107, which insists upon the service to needy people.

The advantages of these systems i.e. barter trading and second hand shops would in deed lessen the burden of printing the paper money, keeping them into pockets, banks, interests, and many other stresses which are caused by ones liquid money. I would personally favour that the honesty and clarity in dealings will develop if we dont have paper money because then the trust and clear dealing will prevail in the society by bartering the coincidence of wants

The improvement in such an organization should be regularly checked. With such schemes there is not only an exchange of valuable household stuff but you can also manage different jobs to do for each others. In Germany it is known as Austauchring which is also a form of barter system. People sometimes exchange their books, old and new household appliances, furniture etc. Or sometime they gift the extra, nonrequired things by giving them into the newspapers. Well in the end one should come with an idea before buying anything is it really needed at this time?
